Train rides for kids

Every child enjoys riding on trains. Listed here are kid size trains from all over the state of California. Hop aboard one of these miniature or full size trains and put a big smile on your kids face. Trains are fun for the whole family and the best part about the ride is you can sit back and relax while the train engineer does the driving.

Amtrak Surfliners – These full size trains are a great way to see the coast.  Sit back and enjoy the view while you travel aboard the sleek double deck Surfliner. Trains run from San Diego to San Luis Obispo.

Orange Empire Railway Museum – One of the largest train museums on the west coast. Ride classic trolleys and trains all day long with museum ticket.  Admission to the museum grounds is free.

Griffith Park Southern Railroad Take a one mile train ride around Griffith Park, Los Angeles. Travel past an old western town, Indian village and over a fifty year old railway bridge.

Goat Hill Junction  Free train rides every third weekend of the month. Located in Costa Mesa, California Goat Hill Junction will put a smile on your kids face. Ask the friendly people at the junction about hosting a train theme birthday party.
Irvine Park Railroad  All aboard for a one mile ride around Irvine Regional Park in Orange County California. Fun for both kids and adults and the tickets are only four dollars for the 12 minute ride.

Descanso Gardens Enchanted Railroad  Take a ride aboard the fun miniature train while you visit Descanso Gardens in  La Cañada Flintridge, California. Rids are only three dollars each. Admission to Descanso Gardens required.

Redwood Valley Railway Take a 12 minute ride through the redwoods at Tilden Park in Berekely California.  Live steam trains have been in operation at the park for over fifty years.

Sonoma Traintown – One quarter scale town with train ride, petting zoo and old time amusement park.  Fun family day trip that will put a smile on your kids face.
