Old Town San Diego Family Day Trip

Old Town San Diego is a fun affordable place to take your family in San Diego. This historic area of California is sometimes called the birth place of the Golden State. Old Town San Diego State Historic Park is the central attraction with museums and restored historic buildings.  Surrounding the park are several blocks of many Old Town shops, including the Old Town San Diego Marketplace. The area also offers numerous dinning options ranging from hot dogs to authentic Mexican food.  Five original  adobes are part of  Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Other historic buildings include a schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, San Diego’s first newspaper office, a cigar and pipe store and a stable with a carriage collection. There are also stores, with local artisans demonstrating their craft. Old Town has its own San Diego Trolley station and for  just a few dollars you can take the entire family to downtown San Diego. Kids love riding trains and the red trolley cars will not disappoint. From the downtown trolley station the USS Midway museum is just a short walk.  Visiting Old Town San Diego will not make a big dent in your wallet.
