SAN FRANCISCO — Although financing plans for California’s high-speed rail line are still being determined, officials Wednesday were set to host the historic groundbreaking of the San Francisco station — northern terminus of the proposed $43 billion line.Senator Barbara Boxer, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and others were to gather at the site of the soon to be demolished Transbay Terminal to break ground for the nation’s first high speed rail terminal.
