Santa Monica Pier Pacific Park

Sometimes referred to as the Coney Island of the West Coast, the Santa Monica Pier actually started out as two tiers built separately in 1909. Snorkel the Seas with Birch Aquarium at Scripps
Scripps Institution of Oceanography/University of California, San Diego
September is an excellent time to snorkel – warm water and clear days await
the adventurous.
Explore the world beyond the beach with snorkeling adventures offered in
September through Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC
San Diego.

Participants will join aquarium naturalists on an unforgettable face-to-face
excursion with abundant marine life that lives just off the La Jolla coast.
Learn about sea creatures and the ecology of their underwater homes while
picking up snorkeling tips. Intermediate swimming ability is required and
previous snorkeling experience is recommended

SNORKEL WITH SHARKS
Date: Sept. 11
Swim with schooling leopard sharks, smoothhound sharks and guitarfish while
enjoying the mild surf and gently sloping beach of La Jolla Shores. See
rays, flatfish, sand dwelling invertebrates and coastal sea life.

Time: 8-10 a.m.
Cost: $30 per person
Ages: 10+ (ages 10-13 must be accompanied by a paid adult)

SNORKEL LA JOLLA COVE
Date: Sept. 18
Enjoy the calm, picturesque waters of La Jolla Cove, part of the San
Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park and Ecological Reserve. Discover the exotic
playground of such beautiful creatures as garibaldi, lobsters and octopuses.
Learn what it’s like to live in a state-protected ecosystem.
