The Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego is the perfect size for a family trip. With a perfect location on the cliffs above La Jolla and it’s smaller size younger children will not get worn out. Inside are many different tanks display various aquatic life and one huge 70,000 gallon kelp forest tank. Outside there is a hands-on tide pool area where kids can touch different sea creatures. An added feature of the ‘back porch” is a wonderful view of the Southern California coastline. Admission is very reasonable with adults only $11.00 and kids $7.50. Birch Aquarium at Scripps is located at 2300 Expedition Way in La Jolla, California and parking is free.
